Tropical vibes with a city backdrop

The Boathouse at Rockett's Landing is the ideal urban venue, with views overlooking Downtown and the James River. It was the perfect setting for a tropical-inspired wedding with modern details.

From Heidi's marigold wedding dress to her stunning Gucci floral sandals to the handcrafted paper floral wall (built by Tom's mother) their wedding was personal, unique and full of bold details.

Planner Notes:

Heidi, who's originally from South Africa, works in a corporate setting in the DC area, so we wrapped up wedding details from afar. Heidi wanted to stay true to her childhood upbringing and Tom wanted to give the wedding a bit of RVA flair.  Instead of cake, donuts, and pies, we had the Gelati Celesti truck on site that evening for guests to help themselves to some of it's most popular flavor options. As an ode to South Africa, we used gorgeous king protea flowers for their copper arbor and centerpieces throughout the reception.

Heidi and Tom wanted the vibe to be similar to an extended cocktail hour. Instead of having a formal setting, we mixed a few cocktail tables, dinner tables, and set up some lounge furniture from Rent E Quip on the balcony overlooking the city. This was perfect! Guests could grab a bite to eat from one station, a drink from the bar, and mix and mingle through the crowd with ease.

Heidi and Tom's wedding was visually stunning, and the perfect summer wedding in RVA.
